The marine gastropod family Solariellidae are small marine snails that show a diverse range of morphologies. Predominantly occurring in deep-water, solariellids are found globally and are in desperate need of taxonomic revision. No subfamilial classification exists for the group and the assignment of species to genera is often uncertain. We propose to produce the first global generic level monograph and first molecular phylogeny of the family Solariellidae. We hope to have a molecular phylogeny published in 2011 and a monograph the year after.
